Dalmatian General Appearance:

The Dalmatian has roots that trace back to the azure shores of the Dalmatian coast in Croatia. The Dalmatian is a tall, muscular dog with a sturdy frame. The obvious trademark of the Dalmatian is their famous spotted coat! Dalmatians have a white coat with black or brown spots, although rare colors like blue, brindle or multi-colored spots also occur. Dalmatian puppies are born white, and their spots appear over time. Despite having a short coat, they still shed considerably.

Dalmatian Temperament:

The Dalmatian is courageous and loyal, with seemingly unlimited energy! If you love to run or hike, a Dalmatian may be the perfect companion for you. In addition to being active and intelligent, they’re also very loving.

Dalmatian Fun Fact:

Why are Dalmatians associated with firetrucks? Deafness can be a genetic trait in Dalmatians, and deaf Dalmatians are often bred as firehouse dogs. Unable to hear the roar of sirens, they aren’t afraid of the loud environment of a firehouse, and make popular pets among firefighters.

Back in the day, Dalmatians had a natural affinity with horses, and were trained to run in front of fire carriages to clear the path.
